Legislature Grants Amesbury Additional Liquor Licenses

BOSTON – The Legislature has passed H. 4583, legislation that will grant the City of Amesbury two additional liquor licenses, State Representative Michael A. Costello announced. The bill was laid on the governor’s desk yesterday, and he has 10 days to sign it.

One of the licenses will be granted to the Roobar, located at 36 Main Street. The second license may be granted to any establishment in a commercially-zoned area by the liquor commission.

“This is a very important tool for attracting new restaurants to the Amesbury dining scene,” said Rep. Costello. “It’s always exciting to see new restaurants opening, particularly in the Powwow Riverwalk area, where we are trying to promote economic development.”

“I want to thank Representative Costello and Senator Baddour for partnering with the city to make this happen,” said Roger Benson, Municipal Council President and Acting Mayor. “Our legislators have a record of supporting the economic vitality of Amesbury and this is another way that they have demonstrated their commitment. For that, we thank them.”
