Caring for Our Children, Our Family and Our Neighbors

The social organizations of the community care for our children, our families and our neighbors. Mike has always supported their valuable work, securing hundreds of thousands in state funding for these programs. Even more that that though, Mike has been one of their biggest advocates and most vocal supporters.

The Boys & Girls Club of Merrimack Valley: $180,000 for after school programs for at-risk youth

The YWCA: $300,000 which helped to fund the construction of the new swimming pool, workout space and locker rooms

The Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center: Mike was a founding member of the Gentlemen’s Partnership, which led a $1 million fundraising campaign to help the Crisis Center fight domestic violence.

Kelley School Youth Center: $100,000 for Newburyport Youth Services to initiate after-school programming at the former Kelley School. This money not only provided educational and recreational opportunities for the city’s youth but also helped preserve the historic building.

Salisbury Public Schools: $60,000 for a Safe & Drug Free Schools Grant

The vision of Mike and his colleagues in the House lef to the re-writing of the state's school building program. To date, the new Massachusetts School Building Authority has sent millions of dollars back to our community, including:
$18 million for Newburyport High School
$X million for Amesbury High School
$X million for Amesbury Middle School
