Mike helped secure a $2.8 million grant for new infrastructure on Rabbit Road. Salisbury partnered with dozens of existing businesses, including many of the town’s top employers, to bring the project to fruition. The funding helped pay for water and sewer upgrades, roadway improvements and construction of a pump station near the Salisbury Industrial Park. Expansion and build out of the park is projected to create 500 new jobs.
The Salisbury Chamber of Commerce has made a commitment to promoting Salisbury Beach and the businesses of Salisbury. Mike has made a commitment to the Chamber by securing $75,000 through the state budget for brochures and advertising campaigns.
With Mike’s support, the state has provided $1.1 million to Anna Jaques Hospital through the Essential Community Provider Trust Fund. Anna Jaques is not only the largest employer in Newburyport but also a critical health resource for people outside of Greater Boston.
Mike demonstrated his commitment to economic development by providing Newburyport with $120,000 for an Economic Development Director position. With the money, the city created promotional pamphlets and a grant program targeted at attracting new businesses to the city, especially to the industrial park.
Newburyport received $450,000 in grant money to study flooding on Malcolm Hoyt Drive in the industrial park. Malcolm Hoyt Drive flooded during the 2006 Mother's Day storm and forced the city to close the road.
Since 2007, Mike has secured $245,000 to pay for engineering design and costs in the Lower Millyard. The project includes the construction of a transportation center, development of a condominium project, the relocation of the Department of Public Works, the expansion of the Water Street parking garage, the completion of the Amesbury Carriage Museum and the completion of the Riverwalk along the Powwow River. This final stage of the Riverwalk will connect the downtown to the mile-and-a-half-long Riverwalk path via a footbridge and boardwalk that will be built along the Powow River in the heart of the downtown.
Mike has helped to bring $1 million in state and federal funding to the Aubin Street/ Nason’s Court neighborhood for sewer, water and drainage improvements, streetscape beautification and road resurfacing.

With Mike’s support, Amesbury received a $350,000 Zoning Incentive Payment from the state’s Smart Growth Housing Trust Fund. The smart-growth plan will spark increased development for the area and could earn Amesbury an addition $1.2 million in state payments.
Mike worked with the Amesbury Alliance to install new signage that promotes downtown Amesbury.
