BOSTON – Michael E. Festa, the Secretary of Elder Affairs, will visit the Amesbury Senior Center Friday, June 27. He will be joined by State Representative Michael A. Costello.
Festa is visiting communities around the state as part of his “Community Connections Tour,” an effort to update the elderly on important issues facing their community and to engage them face to face. Festa, the former State Representative from Melrose, was named Secretary of Elder Affairs in October by Governor Deval Patrick.
“During his time in the Legislature, Secretary Festa was deeply committed to issues affecting the elderly like senior health care and senior home care. I know he will bring his extensive knowledge of these issues to Amesbury,” said Representative Costello. “Just as importantly, Secretary Festa is deeply engaged, and I think it’s important for people to see that they have a passionate advocate in state government. He’s a very good friend, and we’re happy to have him come to Amesbury.”
The event will begin with lunch at 12, noon. People who wish to attend the luncheon part of the event, must RSVP to the Amesbury Senior Center at (978)388-8138.
Following lunch, Secretary Festa will give a brief presentation on elderly initiatives and his future plans. There will also be a time for questions from senior center staff and other people in attendance. Desert will be served following the speaking portion of the event.
