State Recognizes Ring Island Water District BOSTON – The state recognized the Ring’s Island Water District today for its efforts to provide Salisbury residents with safe, clean drinking water. The district scored among the top five percent of all community public water systems in the state as recognized by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. “The Department recognizes the effort and dedication that Ring’s Island Water District has manifested over the past year to meet the ever-evolving federal and state requirements,” said Dave Terry, Program Director of DEP’s Drinking Water Program. To achieve the distinction, the Ring’s Island Water District has conducted many non-regulatory activities that promote quality drinking water for the community. “This award demonstrates the commitment of all the employees of the Ring’s Island District to provide the best possible product for the residents of Salisbury,” said State Rep. Michael Costello. “They have exceeded expectations.” Last year, Rep. Costello helped the water district by sponsoring a bill that increased its borrowing capacity to $1.2 million. The Legislature approved the measure in October. “They’ve obviously put their increased capital to good use,” Costello said. |
